ANGLO American Platinum (Amplats) says its Zimbabwean unit, Unki Mine, recorded a five percent increase in output to 53 300 ounces during the first quarter ended March 31, 2022 attributable to improved operational efficiencies.
The Shurugwi-based miner completed the debottlenecking project at the concentrator last year which should see monthly tonnes milled increase from 175 000 tonnes per month to 210 000 tonnes per month, leading to a 50 000 PGM ounces increase per annum.
“Production at Unki increased by five percent to 53 300 ounces following the debottlenecking project at the concentrator, completed in Q4 2021,” Amplats said in a production report.
